You can stay for the whole slaughter or just a portion, up to you. Mike's setting up the Kona course on the projector, we're riding till the first one's done!

*First announcement: The deadline to secure your tickets for the one night only viewing of Transcend is quickly approaching (11/18). We still need 50 more peeps to sign up in order for this to go down. Eric Ott with GRO (one of our Club sponsors) is putting this night together. Follow the link for tickets and more deets. Movie night is Tuesday, November 25th at 7:30 p.m. at the Studio Movie Grill in Wheaton.

*Second announcement: Also on the 25th we could deff use some able-bodied folks to help prep the Gobbler Gallop course on Tuesday, November 25th. Meet at the boat launch at Silver Springs @ 10 a.m. and bring a rake.

*Third announcement: The following day, Wednesday, November 26th @ 9 a.m. join us for the 9th annual Gobbler Gallop 5k trail pirate run. Bring $5 donation, meet at the boat launch. Post beer and bagels at the Wades.

*Fourth announcement: On Saturday, December 13th @ 6:45 p.m. join us for tasty food and drinks at the Taphouse in Oswego. We've booked a private room upstairs so we don't scare the patrons. This is your opportunity to renew your annual membership or if you have friends or family that would like to become part of our little family c'mon out! Annual business meeting preceding the festivities.

First super props to a few of our Misfits who were amazing in Madison on Sunday and completed Ironman Wisconsin. That's 140.6 miles of awesomeness packed into one entire day! Shout out to Stan Towers who is a 2x IM finisher and of course Megan Weis and Pauly Zegar who are no longer Ironman Virgins!

Special thanks to Darin Jones, Brad Gantt, Sarah and James Ott, Karen Kalicki, Luka, Emma, Susanne, and Michael Forve, the Weis family and friends, the Zegar family, and Mike Pierson for being super fans! Success is not without the love and support of family and friends!!!

Tuesday 9/9: @ 7:30 a.m. if anyone would like to ride all or part of a 6 hour ride or 100 miles whichever comes first, with Mike P and I, we're leaving from Hoover Forest Preserve in Yorkville. Also, I'm doing a run off the bike at the Preserve probably around 2 ish.

Bring your TT/road bike, water, running shoes / bike shoes, helmet, towel - As Braveheart Coaches Al and I would like to invite anyone interested to a coaching / training session where we will emphasize different aspects of the race. Prepare to get those T1/2 times down!!!

Thursday 7/31: @ 8 a.m. OW swim in Sugar Grove. Bring bug spray, paddles, pull buoy. Followed by a bike leaving from the Wades.

Friday 8/1: @ 4:30 a.m. the carpool is leaving from the Wades to Madison, Wisc. for an IM pre ride. Faint of heart need not apply, this is going to be a long day. Expect a 5 hour ride!!! No jokes!!! We have five for sures and room for one (1) more bike.

Thursday 7/24: @ 6:30 p.m. Taphouse social run. Meet in the p. lot next to the Taphouse in Oswego. We'll run up the FRT and back. (No Al and Kristen)

*IMPORTANT: HolidayMan volunteers needed for Saturday set up. Meet at the Lake Holiday Lodge in Somonauk 9 a.m. ish.
Sunday if you're not planning on racing and would like to volunteer at the tri for registration, transition or parking please be at the Lake Holiday Lodge (you'll be able to park there until the lot is full) at 5:00 a.m.
If you would like to volunteer for the swim / bike / run course please be at the Lodge and find the coordinators in blue T-shirts no later than 6 a.m when the briefing will occur.

WOW 5/5-5/11

Hiya Fits!

Before I get to the WOW I wanted to let you all know about a really cool opportunity to volunteer AND get FREE entry into events around the Chicagoland area like the Rock & Roll Half marathon, Chicago Spring half marathon and the Biggest Loser half marathon or 5K.

How you ask? While in San Diego last month Al and I met a fellow triathlete who volunteers for an organization called Raceguards. They are First Aid, CPR trained athletes who volunteer and use their training during events to mitigate medical emergencies right when they happen. So you're actually running the race wearing a small first aid pack.

Wednesday 4/23: @ 8-8:30 for a swim at the VAC. If the weather's bad we'll be running inside after. If we're lucky we'll head on over to the PHS track for some speed work after the swim
#1 Thursday 4/24: @ 8:30 a.m. bike. If nice, we'll try for outdoors. If not plan on inside followed by a 1 hour run.
#2 Thursday 4/24: @ 6:30 p.m. TAPHOUSE GRILL in Oswego. Meet in the parking lot adjacent to the pub. We'll hit 4-5 miles along the FRT and have a brew to refresh post run!
Friday 4/25: On your own
Saturday 4/26: @ 9 a.m. for a long bike. If it's nice we'll hit the open road, if not we'll be indoors. Watch the FB page for updates. 1 hr run off the bike to follow. Meet at the Wades in Plano.
Sunday 4/27: @ 8 a.m. for an QUICK easy strength / yoga session at Mike Ps Hoover hideaway. Some of us will be running long after and wrap it up with a swim at the VAC in the afternoon! Good long day of training!

Meet in the parking lot west of the restaurant, we'll run along the Fox River Trail and perhaps get a brew after. Sadly Cobblestones is under new management and is no longer open for dinner in the café area and is no longer serving Fish Tacos.

Sunday 3/30: the regularly scheduled strength session held at Mike P's is cancelled. In lieu of it we are meeting @ 10 a.m. at 515 East Lee Street in Plano for a long ROAD ride OUTSIDE and short run to follow!
Monday 3/31: @ 8:30-9 for a swim at the VAC and run outside to follow (if crappy out we'll just run on the track upstairs).
Tuesday 4/1: on your own, really, no joke, no April Fools, get off your biscuits and do sumthin!
Wednesday 4/2: @ 8:30 a.m. for an indoor bike at the Wades and a short run to follow.
